The Short Answer
Tinting the side windows and Rear Window of a Rivian R1S costs $650 in XPEL XR Black or $800 in XR Plus. Adding the windshield brings it to $949 or $1,199. Clear paint protection film starts at $2,000 for a Full Front. Every price is before sales tax.
These are XPEL's Rivian program prices. Rivian refers its owners to Autograff, an XPEL Authorized Dealer in North Hollywood, and the R1S is one of the three Rivians we do every week.
R1S Window Tint Prices
The R1S is a three-row SUV with a long run of side glass. The all-sides price covers every side window back to the third row, plus the Rear Window in the liftgate. Both films are nano-ceramic with no metal, so phone key and GPS signals work normally.

XR Black or XR Plus
XR Black rejects up to 85% of infrared heat and XR Plus up to 96%. Both block 99% of UV. On a car with this much glass, the difference shows up on long summer drives and when the car sits in the sun at a trailhead or a Valley parking lot.
The gap on the main package is $150. If you carry passengers in the third row often, or the car sits outside all day, XR Plus is the one to weigh. If you mostly want privacy and a cooler cabin at a lower price, XR Black does that well. Our XR Black vs XR Plus comparison goes through it.
The Windshield and the Glass Roof
The windshield is the largest single piece of glass on the car. A nearly clear nano-ceramic film cuts infrared heat without changing how it looks: $299 in XR Black or $399 in XR Plus. California allows a non-reflective strip on the top 4 inches.
If your R1S has the glass roof, roof film cuts the heat over all three rows. It is $550 in XR Black or $600 in XR Plus, in any shade from nearly clear to dark.
What Is Legal
In California the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through. The rear side windows and the Rear Window can be darker on a car with both side mirrors, which the R1S has. We keep this general here; the window-by-window rules are on our California tint laws page.
R1S PPF Prices
Window tint is the daily-comfort upgrade. PPF is the one that protects the paint. The R1S has a tall, flat front end that takes gravel on the 101, the 405 and the 5, and a chip in factory paint stays there.

PPF prices are approximate starting prices. The final quote depends on the coverage you choose, and Stealth, the satin film, is usually done on the whole car. A Full Front covers the full hood, front fenders, front bumper, mirrors and headlights. Ultimate Plus is self-healing: light scratches and swirl marks fade with heat from the sun or warm water. Putting a Package Together
A common order for a new R1S looks like this:
- Side windows and Rear Window. $650 or $800, done while you wait in our lounge.
- Windshield. $299 or $399, usually added in the same visit.
- Full Front in clear PPF. From $2,000, and the car stays with us about 2 days.
- Glass roof. $550 or $600, if your car has one.
XPEL Fusion Plus ceramic coating is optional. It adds gloss and makes the car easier to wash, on bare paint or on top of PPF. The Paint & PPF package is $1,000.
Warranty
XPEL says products installed through its Rivian program won't impact the Rivian New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The film carries its own XPEL warranty: lifetime for window tint and 10 years for PPF.
