The Short Answer
At Autograff, a Tesla Model Y with XPEL nano-ceramic tint on all side windows and the Rear Window is $560 in XR Black or $700 in XR Plus. Add the windshield and the full car is $859 or $1,099. Every shade costs the same, so going lighter or darker never changes the price.

Prices are before sales tax. Model S uses the same prices as the Model Y.
What You Pay For
Most of the price is the film itself. XR Black and XR Plus are XPEL nano-ceramic films. XR Black rejects up to 85% of infrared heat, XR Plus up to 96%, and both block 99% of UV. The rest is the install: computer-cut patterns for the Model Y glass, a clean in-shop bay and 2 to 3 hours of careful work.
Why Prices in LA Range So Widely
You will see Model Y tint advertised in Los Angeles from about $350 to well over $1,000. The gap usually comes down to three things:
- The film. Dyed and basic carbon films cost far less than nano-ceramic, and they reject much less heat.
- What is included. Some low prices cover only the side windows. Ask whether the Rear Window and the windshield are in the quote.
- The warranty. XPEL film carries a lifetime warranty that transfers with the car and is honored by every certified XPEL installer.
Which Package Most Model Y Owners Choose
The most common choice is all side windows and the Rear Window, often with the windshield in a light shade for heat. The Model Y glass roof is large, so owners who park outside a lot often add it too. Read more in our guide to tinting the Tesla glass roof.
Old Tint or a Used Model Y
If the car already has film that is bubbling or purple, it has to come off first. Removal is added to the quote, and on the Rear Window we use a steamer to protect the defroster lines.
